Pending a Medication Review

This topic is applicable to Ontario pharmacies only.

Medication reviews can be pended to be completed at a later time. A review should only be pended if a Drug Therapy Problem was identified during the interview process and it is being resolved immediately. Otherwise, when an Opinion is generated, document in the medication review the agreed upon plan and proceed to complete the review and obtain the patient's signature.

When a medication review is pending, it appears on the Patient Centre Medication Review Workbench > Pending tab > Pending DTP tab. For more information, see Viewing the Medication Review Workbench.

To pend a medication review:

  1. Launch a new or saved medication review.

  2. Enter information in the various fields as necessary.

  3. Select Pend.

    The Checklist for Completeness appears. For more information, see Reviewing the Checklist for Completeness.

  4. Review the Checklist for Completeness.

  5. Select OK. The medication review is placed on the Patient Centre Medication Review Workbench > Pending tab > Pending DTP tab.
